Murphy won her 14-player bracket at the Midwest Open, hosted by UW-Whitewater. Three of her four wins came down to the third-set tiebreaker, including a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3) win in the final. She also played in the top tournament (ITA) in doubles play and won two matches with partner Alyssa Carew.
